Smorgasbord - Variety is the spice of life

Music has been an important element in my life since childhood and every week I am going to feature specific songs for each year of my life since 1962 which is my first recollection of listening to music… This week the first song that I could not get out of my head….Walkin’ My Baby Back Home.

My father banished the record player to the basement where my sister and I would listen to her LPs.. I remember The Nat King Cole Story album for other songs too. Unforgettable, Mona Lisa and A Blossom Fell in particular. Here is probably my favourite track from the album in 1962 when at age nine I discovered the incomparable Mr. Nat King Cole.

Walkin’ My Baby Back Home was written in 1930 by lyricist Roy Turk with the music by Fred E. Ahlert. It was in the charts as early as 1931…
