NO, Let’s clear that up right now. NOT that Michael Phelps; the talented Olympic Champion with all the Gold.
This is MICHAEL PHELPS, the (not so) young, (not so) good-looking, but talented WRITER of Police Procedural, Detective, Crime, and Courtroom drama genre novels, all based on actual cases.
This Michael Phelps has lived a long, complicated life. He has traveled each and every highway, and some byways too, has stumbled a few times, even fallen down once or twice, but he just picks himself up, dusts himself off, and starts all over again. Regrets, he has a few, but then again, too few to mention . . . not that he could go back and make changes anyway . . . so he just stands tall, and looking back he’ll say, “I DID IT MY WAY!”
MICHAEL PHELPS retired as Chief Investigator for a prominent Coral Gables, FL law firm, specializing in criminal defense. He is a Veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served in the Military Police Combat Defense Forces during the Viet Nam War. He is divorced and splits his time between New York City and Miami, Florida with his faithful companion, Baron der Hunter V, a German Shepherd who does not believe he’s a dog at all.
Michael Phelps created the “Detective Mike Walsh” series of novels with the debut of THE EXECUTION OF JUSTICE. Based on the true story of his close friend and one-time mentor, a Robbery & Homicide Detective Sergeant in the Indianapolis Police Department. Cops & Robbers, Mayhem & Murders, this book has it all in graphic details,
His second “Detective Mike Walsh” novel, THE JOCKEY’S JUSTICE. Based on a true story. A “cold case” of murder is investigated by Mike Walsh, no longer a city police robbery-homicide detective, but Chief Investigator for a prominent Miami Law firm, and his assistant. A winning horse racing jockey is murdered on the last day of the season in a small western Kentucky town. Eight years after his killing his widow, living in Miami, Florida, their son-in-law and her nephew are charged with the crime. Walsh’s law firm is retained, and he and his assistant are sent to Kentucky to investigate the case and help his boss, Attorney Frank Piazza to build a defense for his clients.
The ‘Sport of Kings,’ illegal high-stakes gambling, political corruption, inept ‘Keystone Kops,’ and characters right out of the old ‘Night Court’ television comedy series running the local courthouse, make this a fast-paced, exciting read.
Michael Phelps is also the Co-author of DAVID JANSSEN – MY FUGITIVE, written with Ellie Janssen, the beloved actor’s first wife. It is an intimate portrayal of the Golden Globe winning, Emmy nominated television and film star, best known for his starring role as “Dr. Richard Kimble” on ABC Television’s THE FUGITIVE (1963-1967). This book is now available in the Fourth Edition, Softcover, 150 pages containing thirty-four photographs from Ellie Janssen’s private collection, and an update by Michael Phelps.
